media//processes

Adam smith's work revolvs around the process and attention to that process in relations to the work he produces. I not only find his work a good example of the process but aslo the interest and developement he has made with this character designs. There is an on going investigation which is demonstrated through his work, of the process of screen printing and it is easy to see how this has had an inpact on the final image. I really love the colour associations which is one of the most interesting aspects of the printing process due to the limitations it brings but also quality. There is almost no way to go wrong with colour association in my opinion, which again is the beautiful thing about screen printing and the process and steps taken to achieve such high quality image making, each print with its own original mark and originailty. The work that goes behind screen printing and the satisfaction it brings to ones practice is really a unique feeling, and a very special way of working. Another aspect of Adam's work that I like is the use of scale and format which is really appropriate to the kind of work he does and in the context he wished it is seen as. The trouble with screen printing in terms of how it is applied to my own practice is in terms of the use of context. There is a limitaion, as seen through Adam's work of the kind of clients that might be drawn to this kind of work and process. Fighting with a more digital age, the lack of consistancy and perfection that might be more suitable for some clients might be a problem. Which is why I need to find a common ground for me in terms of product and process and how appropriate it will be to what I want to produce and the kind of image/work I want to put myself out there for.
